Learn to eFoil in the Florida Keys

eFoil the Florida Keys Hey guys, this is Matt with Grassy Flats. And if you want to figure out a way to get on the water down here, there is no cooler way than to eFoil the Florida Keys. So, eFoiling is kind of What an eFoil is: the board, battery and remote Like surfing with no waves. We've got an electronic foil board with a hydrofoil that's going to rise you up on top of the water. You've got a lithium-ion battery that's integrated into the board, and then we put a little remote control right here into your hand, and you can pull the trigger, get up and ride. Right out in front of the resort is one of the perfect places if it's not a windy day and you're going out kiteboarding, you can get on one of these things, cruise back and forth. We're out there, dolphins are swimming along, you can see turtles. You're elevated out of the water, so your ability to view everything is far greater than even on a stand-up paddleboard. So, I'm about 25, almost 30 Why hydrofoiling stays challenging and fun Years into my board riding career here, and you've got to wonder, how do you keep it going? Why is it still fun? And the answer is because I get to try so many different things. Um kiteboarding is one of my favorite sports in the world because it's so three-dimensional. You can ride a surfboard, a wakeboard, a kiteboard. Um all of these different disciplines that are going to give you a different experience on the water. One of the coolest boards though that's going to The stepping stone from eFoil to hydrofoil Open up your entire program and allow you to get so many more days on the water is a hydrofoil. And a hydrofoil is actually one of the more fun and easy ways to get out on the water. You don't need as much wind, and it's a lot more forgiving on the body. That being said, there is a little bit of a barrier to entry with learning. We do an intro to foil boarding course over at Keys Cable Park, which is one of the best ways that you can learn how to ride a conventional foil, but the easiest possible way, right here in my hand, to get on an eFoil. An eFoil is going to be that stepping stone that allows you to get up and ride on a hydrofoil for your first time. That motor provides a little bit of extra stability, locks you in, and allows you to stand on that board with confidence and ride around here on the ocean. Once you master this thing, wing foiling, hydrofoiling, foil surfing, it's a piece of cake. You're going to have it dialed in no time. Learning to eFoil in the Florida Keys is incredible because right Where you ride: Hawks Channel and guided tours Behind me, you can see we've got endless beautiful flat calm water. Um the reef is 4 mi out, so that area right in between the reef and the shoreline here is called Hawks Channel. It creates an incredible playground that usually averages only about 20 ft deep for that initial first 4 mi to the drop-off at the reef. For our lessons here at Grassy Flats, we're going to keep you right in this little area of Hawks Channel right in front of the resort, but we also offer guided tours. We can take you to the Valhalla sandbar, which is about a mile and a half down the road. And if you get into eFoiling, you end up picking up your own eFoil, it is probably the coolest thing in the world to go ride around the canals in the neighborhoods, go out into the back country, which we can also do on different private charters.
