By Air:

• Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Intl (FLL) – Around 145 miles away (~3.5 hours).

Flying into Miami or Fort Lauderdale usually gives you more airline options (and often cheaper flights), while flying into Key West gets you closer to the action faster.

Getting Around:

• Driving is your best bet – Renting a car is highly recommended so you can explore Marathon and the surrounding Keys at your own pace.

• Shuttle services and taxis are available but limited. Ride-shares like Uber operate in the area, but with less frequency.

During the warmer months (typically April through October), you might notice sargassum seaweed washing up on the Keys shoreline. It’s a natural occurrence that supports marine life, but when it piles up onshore, it can cause odor and take away from those dreamy beach views.
